Business Processes & Organizational Alignment – Engaged by the owners of a construction / remodeling company to provide management consulting to assess the general health of the business, make recommendations to improve the operations and structure of the company, and provide management training so that the business can more effectively implement an aggressive growth strategy. Developed processes and an organization structure to allow the company to grow 500% to 600% within 3-4 years.

Business Diagnostics & Strategic Planning – Engaged by business owners to provide management consulting and SME to diagnose the overall company health & structure of an animation / computer graphics production company and develop new plans, processes, procedures, and organizational structure to enable the business to increase profitability and market share (4 fold growth in 3 years). Responsibilities included coaching senior managers (including C-level officers) in best business practices, provide leadership & communication skills training, assessing the financial and operational health of the business, coordinate and develop business strategies & plans, coordinating projects & interactions with company associates & subject matter experts, develop & implement change management & organizational alignment initiatives, financial analysis, establishing performance metrics, and lead business process mapping & re-engineering efforts. Work encompassed all aspects / functional areas of the business.

Strategic Planning – Engaged by CEO of national service company to analyze their current marketing position, growth strategy, and facilitated the leadership in developing a new five year business plan to increase annual revenues by $15,000,000 (15%).

Business Process Re-Engineering – Developed and implemented new business process that reduced new customer approval & setup time from 2 weeks to less than an hour by re-engineering the existing financial processes & systems and also utilize internet technology.

Overhead Reduction – Working with the CEO and CFO of a Global 100 company, Michael coached senior executives to reduce SG&A spending by over 40% across all business units to align the company with top competitors. This project created over $400 million in sustainable annual savings largely through consolidation or elimination of services, revision of business directives and policies, alignment of staff resources with business needs, and business process re-engineering. Internal groups included Supply Chain / Procurement. Legal, Marketing / Sales, Security, IT, SH&E, Financial Planning, HR, and Corporate Affairs.

Contingent Workforce Management – Working with the CFO of a Fortune 100 company, Michael developed and implemented a program to effectively manage (i.e. identify, monitor, and procure) temporary labor and professional services. This project reduced the contingent labor costs by over 50%, or $11.5 million annual savings, while improving the overall quality of the contract labor workforce.

Shared Services – Working with the CEO of a Fortune 500 services company, Michael developed a program to consolidate back office functions globally into an independent profit center. This project included training of back-office business units in how to transform management of a cost center operation to a profit center.
